misto.cafe, the first social impact café in the Volyn region, has officially opened in Lutsk.
What makes this café unique?
misto.cafe has 100 co-founders, each of whom contributed an equal, one-time, non-refundable investment to launch the project. However, they have no influence over the café's day-to-day operations or profit distribution.
The café's net profit is allocated as follows: 20% is allocated to operational costs, while 80% is directed towards supporting community projects aimed at developing Lutsk.
The idea of creating a social impact café in Lutsk came from the Algorytm platform. The team was inspired by the Urban Space 100 social restaurant in Ivano-Frankivsk, adopting its model as a foundation. The public proposes ideas for the city's development, and the café's co-founders decide, during quarterly meetings, which projects will receive funding.
What’s on the misto.cafe menu?
The café offers a mix of Volyn, Crimean Tatar, and modern European cuisine. Additionally, it serves coffee from over five different Ukrainian roasters, as well as "Jezva" coffee, which is brewed similarly to Turkish coffee, but even better.
"We are certain that the people of Lutsk and visitors will love everything we've created. We look forward to seeing a full café with people enjoying our food and drinks," said Serhii Kapatsyna, head of the consulting company "HORS," which manages the operations of misto.cafe.
The Shop and Events
In addition to delicious food and drinks, misto.cafe also features a local brands shop and an event space. The shop exclusively showcases products from local producers, as well as Lutsk-themed merchandise. Among the items are home goods from Mr.Scrubber, Levan Home, and Ryaba Vosh, as well as clothing from USUAL, KateLab, and WHUN, among others.
The event space will begin hosting activities soon, with details to be announced on the café’s website and social media.
